Has Whitefield Metro Started?
Namma Metro’s Purple Line Whitefield metro started on March 26, 2023. It was launched on March 25, 2023, by the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. The line is operational and goes from Whitefield to Challaghatta. It takes about an hour and 15 minutes to travel between the two areas.
Just 7 kilometres from the Kadugodi (Whitefield) metro station is the luxury Prestige Evergreen in Varthur. Its great location close to the metro has improved the quality of life in the complex. It is easy for residents to get to other areas in the city, like MG Road. The metro has raised the value of homes in the project.
- The metro is part of the 43.49-kilometre Purple Line that runs from Whitefield to Challaghatta. The line includes 37 stations, with 31 elevated stations, 1 station at-grade, and 5 underground stations. Phase I of the line was the first underground section to be built in South India.
- The Whitefield metro starts early in the morning, which is ideal for people going to work. The Whitefield metro timings are from 5:00 a.m. up until 11:00 p.m. every day. The frequency of trains on the line is 5 to 7 minutes. It may vary slightly for Sundays and public holidays.
- The trains run on time, and commuters can check travel times online on the official website. The MG Road to Whitefield metro route of 19 kilometres takes about 35 minutes. The length of the Hoodi to Whitefield metro route is 6 kilometres. It takes just 10 minutes, much faster than by road.
- Some of the key stations on the Whitefield metro route are Hopefarm, Pattandur Agrahara, and Hoodi.
The Bangalore metro is being expanded and upgraded. More lines are expected to be operational soon. The Yellow Line Silk Board metro is the newest and started on August 10, 2025. The line links areas in the southeast to other areas of the city. There are plans for the metro that will add more connections for people in the city.
